About

I’m Brent Burgess, a data architect based in Benicia, California. Data architect who ships AI automation.

I design data platforms and build the AI and Python systems that run on them. For eight years at Wine.com, as Lead Data Architect, then Senior Data Engineering Manager, then Director of Data and Analytics, that meant a governed lakehouse, one certified metric layer and production AI agents. My work spans data engineering, analytics and BI, and AI tooling: getting data into a shape people can trust, then putting it to work. The full history is on my résumé.

On this site the same habits run at small scale: a nightly dbt and DuckDB pipeline that tests every number before it is published, a read-only Model Context Protocol server that lets AI agents read what is here, and a build done with Claude Code and reviewed line by line.

I think about systems the way an architect would. Start with the design, write down the decisions and their trade-offs, and know what has to change when the load is ten times bigger.

Sleep Anchor

I also run Sleep Anchor, an ambient sleep-music project on YouTube and two music podcast feeds. Tracks are AI-generated, then mixed and mastered in Reaper, and a Python pipeline checks, renders and publishes them. Running it is a working exercise in AI-assisted production and publishing, and it is the subject of a case study here.
